I just watched the pilot of Friends of the People the new skit comedy show on truTV. It was disappointing and not comical. There was an unfortunate skit in which they made comedian Tracy Morgan look like a stupid sex crazed jerk. I wonder if they made that skit before the accident that has left him using a wheelchair and unlikely to return to show business. Regardless, the right move would have been to remove it. It is too soon.
I’m not sure who the target audience for the show is supposed to be. It wasn’t me. Some of the skits seemed aimed toward people my age but missed the mark. There was a play on Michael Jackson’s Beat It Video and a skit about Seinfeld, neither was funny. The show was not even ridiculous enough to be amuse.
