Read Isaiah Chapter 34
We do not like to dwell on the wrath of God. We don’t want to think about the judgment He brings down on the people who refused Him, but it is something we need to think about occasionally. The Bible addresses it enough that we need to understand the reality of it. Every person is a sinner. (Romans 3:23) Everyone will have to pay for their sin with sacrifice of blood, death. (Romans 6:23) (Hebrews 9:22)
Just as The Lord doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9), we too desire that everyone comes to know Him and be saved from that Terrible Day. That Day will bring amazing and wonderful things for us, but it will come through fire and blood. What it brings to the people who did not choose Christ will be perpetual suffering and fire. (Matthew 25:41).
So keep in mind and heart that day so that you might be moved to share the Grace of Jesus, The Love of The Father, and The Truth of The Spirit with the lost.
First God will destroy the Heavens. The stars will fall and the sky will fold up on itself. I can’t imagine the terror that will bring to the people who chose death over life. (Verses 1-4). Then He will look to the earth, His sword will take the sacrifices it wants to pay for the evil of the earth. Verses 5-7 read,
“For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
behold, it descends for judgment upon Edom,
upon the people I have devoted to destruction.
6 The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood;
it is gorged with fat,
with the blood of lambs and goats,
with the fat of the kidneys of rams.
For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 Wild oxen shall fall with them,
and young steers with the mighty bulls.
Their land shall drink its fill of blood,
and their soil shall be gorged with fat.”
He does this because vengeance is His. He will settle the score and He does it for us. He brings us justice out of His deep love for us. Evil must be paid for with blood. Jesus paid the price, and for those who chose life and accepted His gift, it is paid. But for the rest of the world, payment will come due and The LORD will take it. He decreed it from the beginning. It will happen. He has already decided. Verses 16-17 read,
“Seek and read from the book of the Lord:
Not one of these shall be missing;
none shall be without her mate.
For the mouth of the Lord has commanded,
and his Spirit has gathered them.
17 He has cast the lot for them;
his hand has portioned it out to them with the line;
they shall possess it forever;
from generation to generation they shall dwell in it.”
You can choose to let Jesus pay the price for your sin or you can choose to let God take it from you on The Day of the Lord. Jesus wants to be the Lord of your life. I can tell you the joy and rest He gives is more wonderful than you can imagine. There is no more striving to be good enough. No wondering if your karma is balanced. Jesus sacrificed Himself so that you could live. If you do not let Him pay the price for your sin, you will pay for it. Believer, do not let your friends and loved ones choose death without even knowing they made the choice. The Day of Judgment is a certainty. Eternity is just as assured. Where will your loved ones spend it? Will they sing the Lord’s praises and rest in His presence or will they gnash their teeth in agony?
